Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026. At EconomicsPerspective.com (“we”, “us”, or “our”), we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal data
We may collect the following personal information when you interact with our site:
- Account information: name and email address when you create an account, sign in, or contact us
- Payment information: if you purchase EP Prime membership (processed securely by Razorpay — we do not store your card details)
- Notification data: a device token if you opt in to push notifications for new articles
1.2 Automated collection
We automatically collect certain technical data through cookies and similar technologies.
2. How We Use Your Data
We process your information for these lawful purposes:
- To deliver and improve our content and services
- To respond to inquiries and provide support
- To process EP Prime membership payments and manage your subscription
- To send service notifications you’ve opted into (e.g. new-article push alerts)
- To prevent fraud and enhance security
- To comply with legal obligations
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent: for optional cookies and push notifications
- Contract: to fulfill services you request, including EP Prime membership
- Legitimate interest: for site security and fraud prevention
- Legal obligation: when required by law
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), Economics Perspective acts as a Data Fiduciary. We process your personal data on the basis of your consent or for other legitimate uses recognized under the Act, and you may exercise the rights described in Section 6 at any time. For visitors in the EU/EEA, we additionally rely on the GDPR bases listed above.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
4.1 Service providers
We share data with the following third-party providers, each operating under its own privacy policy and security practices:
- Firebase (Google) — handles account authentication and push notifications. Firebase sees your name, email address, sign-in method, and (if you enable notifications) a device push token. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Razorpay — processes EP Prime membership payments. You enter your card/UPI/payment details directly into Razorpay’s own secure checkout — we never receive or store your full payment credentials, only the transaction result (payment ID, order ID, amount, status). Razorpay is PCI-DSS compliant. Governed by Razorpay’s Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (R2) — stores and delivers uploaded images, PDFs, and audio files. Cloudflare handles the files themselves, not your personal account data. Governed by Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — shown to non-member readers only. May use cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing. You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Ads Settings. Governed by Google’s ad policies.
- Spotify — powers the embedded audio player on Prime Audio and Audio Edition articles. When you play an episode, Spotify may collect playback data per its own policy. Governed by Spotify’s Privacy Policy.
- Hostinger — our web hosting provider; processes server logs (IP address, request data) necessary to serve the site.
4.2 Legal disclosures
We may disclose information when legally required to comply with court orders, protect our rights, or prevent fraud.
4.3 Third-party security & liability
Each provider listed above is responsible for the security of its own systems and is governed by its own privacy policy and terms. Economics Perspective is not responsible or liable for any data breach, security incident, service outage, or unauthorized access that originates on or within a third-party provider’s systems, including but not limited to Firebase, Razorpay, Cloudflare, Google AdSense, Spotify, or Hostinger. We select reputable providers and configure our integrations responsibly, but we do not control their infrastructure. If we become aware that a third-party incident has affected your data, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
5. International Data Transfers
As we use global service providers, your data may be transferred outside your home country. We ensure all transfers comply with applicable data protection laws through EU Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved mechanisms.
6. Your Rights
You’re in control of your personal data. You can:
- Delete your data — you can delete your account yourself, anytime, from Settings → Danger Zone. No need to contact us. (See Section 9 for what happens after.)
- See or correct your data — ask us for a copy of what we hold, or to fix anything that’s wrong
- Limit or object to how we use it — including withdrawing any consent you’ve given
For anything besides deletion, email us at team.economicsperspective@gmail.com and we’ll help.
7. Cookies & Tracking
7.1 Essential cookies
Required for site functionality: session cookies for login status and security cookies for protection.
7.2 Optional cookies
Used with your consent: advertising cookies (Google AdSense, shown to non-member readers), and preference cookies. Spotify’s embedded player may also set cookies when you play an episode. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures including:
- SSL/TLS encryption for data in transit
- Access controls and authentication
- Regular security audits
- Data minimization principles
9. Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active. If you request deletion, we hold your data for a 30-day grace period — signing back in during that window cancels the deletion — after which your account, including your Firebase sign-in record, is permanently deleted.
- Payment records are retained beyond account deletion where required for tax, accounting, or audit purposes under Indian law.
- Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and fraud-prevention purposes, then purged.
10. Policy Changes
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date and communicated via email to registered users.
