A $2.7 trillion record for worldwide military expenditure in 2024, pursuant to a ten-year increasing trend, while SDGs strive to gain progress. It was assumed 20% of the Sustainable Development Goals are concentrated in the year 2030, and the yearly financial insecurity will rise up to $6.4 trillion. This rise in defense budgets occurs alongside diminished social investment, an exacerbation of inequality, and lessened international cooperation, as evidenced by a decline in the amounts of official development assistance and rising debt burdens.

All regions have seen improvements in military spending, but Europe and the Middle East have benefited the most. In spite of having a quarter of the world’s population, Africa acquires not even 2 percent of all military funding. The current militarization is fueled by wars and active territorial conflicts, major state rivalries, terrorism, and the absence of a sufficient arms control framework. Resources from health, education, and social protection, declining growth, jobs, and equality are significantly shifted by heavy defense allocation shifts, and it also harms ecosystems and institutions. The UN advises negotiation, arms control, transparency, and stronger peace-development ties to tackle violence, corruption, and war impacts, promoting sustainable, equitable growth over armed mobilization.

It suggested funding through multilaterals, progressive taxation, and security strategies that center humanity to consider how to promote cooperation, trust, and lasting investments. In the end, the report states that peace and development can hardly be maintained without a radical transfer of wealth from militaries to people and resilient peoples with equitable and shared wealth. With collective will, there is still hope for achieving peace and sustainable development globally by 2030 and the years beyond.
